though, Connor's not an eagle, well, I guess that depends on how you see it
Altair's translated name is something like "The flying one son of none"
Ezio's is something like "The eagle of Florence"
and Connor's is "Lover of hounds" and his last name is something like "Brave royal fighter" unless you use his Mohawk name, then it's "Life scratcher"
idk about Edward or the girl assassin's names though

it really is amazing though, I wouldn't say to change it
plus all the assassin's are kinda known as eagles, even if their name doesn't have something to do with eagles, or just birds in general
I just thought that the name is suitable because some names are related with avian meanings (as you described) and for the other ones the symbolic meaning of eagle fits very well too, because he's also fighting for freedom.
plus, if you look at Connor's hood, he has an eagle
